We had a GREAT time at saturday’s book signing.  we sold over $100 worth of books in two hours to give to Sarah Noble School’s  Student Council to add to their “Raise the Roof for the Animal Shleter” campaign.

A very special thanks to to Karin at The Bent Page. She opened up her shop on her BIRTHDAY and offered us the use of her awesome shop.   I adore this book store- I usually go there witha  few books to exchange, and leave witha BIG bagful to bring home.

My pal Trish Haldin came by to take a few photos-   I love her work!  She loves animals, too, and so sweet to come by and take pics…

Lilly’s Story is about a dog that was born in a puppy mill. She was taken away to be sold at a pet store, then loved for a short while by a family that wasn’t ready for a puppy. They abandoned her, and she got lost, then put in a shelter. Lilly was placed in a rescue, where she was spayed, then finally, finally she found her forever home.Lilly’s Story was written by 10 year old Ally Del Monte.  Ally and her family have participated in all type of pet rescue, including senior, special needs adoptions and hospice care.    The now 6th grader wanted to find a way to help the Rescues that make such a difference in the lives of animals.  While she was thinking of ways to raise money for her fund, her Mom suggested that she write a book, and publish it.  Ally decided it was a great idea, and wrote a synopsis, an outline, and worked on a page at a time, both authoring and illustration this picture book about a Puppy Mill pup’s life.Today Ally was feature on Better Connecticut – Channel 3. Scot Haney is a real animal lover- he goes above and beyond  to help and showcase rescues in Connecticut. You can see her segment here:  Better Connecticut.   She was also featured ina story in the News Times. The profit from the sale of the book will benefit The New Milford Animal Welfare Society.

SNIS’s 6th grader Ally Del Monte authored and illustrated Lilly’s Story to teach others about Puppy Mills and the importance of adopting from a shelter.  All profits are donated to the Animal Welfare Society
